Any idea about game fees for future?

Postby WAR2014 » 23 December 2013, 13:22

Hi,

I think this thread probably too early to spoke, but the Dev team was using their own spare times for this project, and the project success not only for them, it's for us, our fellow WAR fans. So let the big guys doing the master pieces. We all knew WAR wasn't free for play, you need to pay monthly subscription fees, it was US$14.99/30days. If Private Server success and playable, we need to sit down and discuss what feature we need to put on.

I had played many other MMO while off WAR. Like: Rift, StarWars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, Age of Conan, Aion... These MMO was started by PTP(pay to Play, exp Guild Wars 2), and they all became F2P(Free to Play)now. what kind of thread to make them change? The Fees I guess. And what they use now to keep the game continue? Swtor used Cartel Market(Sub players earned Cartel coin, 500/mth); F2P players can used real world currency purchase cartel coin. Rift used Gems store... Many many of these mmo now all using Items Charge to keep the game continue. If you want the character have a unique war gears (suits, weapons, mounts...), you need to buy them from ingame shop. I think we can run this at future when PS-WAR are really playable, if we had much enough players. I think the server need maintenance, technic support, more and more after the game is going live! All the charges will be support the server and the dev team. I know this idea will going too far, but it's in my brain long ago. I did a feedback to EA game support about the same thread, they had the similar project too, but fail to run, none even on beta. Now we can run the PS-War, I think it's time to speak out. Guys, try to image the feature of the game, much room for development!

:D This is all. Can we discus what do we do next, and next?

Thanks!

Imo there is a big issue before even thinking about fees: population.

Let's not forget that when this server will be ready to play, we'll have an huge contender called Elder Scrolls Online, my WAR guild already decided they'll play that game.

Even without contender, we have yet to see how many will want to play WAR again, if you start putting barriers and prices before even starting, then this server stands no hope.

As you know, this is not WoW or SWTOR, here an healthy population is really, really important and this is a big challenge to overcome for a private server.

So, imo, let's get enough people to have RvR and then we'll see to impose them prices.

I have 6 EvE Online running subs, 1 SWTOR, 3 Istaria and just purchased a de luxe Hangar plus best ship for Star Citizen (= several hundred dollars) so money is not my issue.

My issue is to play on a shard that is actually alive, because THE RvR game without RvR would be a sight beyond sad. And you can't have an alive shard if you start thinking about gorging on players money before proving the server has a tomorrow.

I'm all for the following:

1. Selling gold for real currency to us players too lazy to farm (that's me). I'd much rather the dev team make the profit than someone else.

2. A small monthly subscription (~5 euro a month).

3. Pay-for extras like web to in-game guild chat.

4. The team accepting donations from their website.

5. Pay-for power levelling (e.g. we pay 20 euro and they make us lvl 40, or we pay 100 euro and they make us RR XX…), maybe a sliding scale, again to appease those players with more money than time rather than the other way around.

A better question would be how to cover running costs if the project does succeed. I kind of hold on to the hope that EA will just publish what they have for the community to work with. It would make a lot of legal considerations disappear I would imagine. Would be good marketing practice for EA and GW too, since they would benefit from a dead project that is doing nothing for them right now.

Well, Skyrim OL should be a challenge to WAR, but they are totally different mode, Skyrim just like other Guild Wars 2, or maybe some one will say GW2 not PvP game, it's WvW. But the base same. I think none any MMO was same as WAR, two realm against each other; both realm are unique characters. As I said I had many exp on other MMO, they all PvP game. Only WAR is my fava Realm v Realm MMO. If PS can live long, I will sticky with it.

The thread just my own opinion. There's many games launch at 2014. But I just play MMO :D

Cheers!

I am totally ok with donate while it doesn't affect the game balance. Hard work deserves to be rewarded. But what's with GW? Even if they tolerate a free project,I am not sure they gonna be ok with someone making money with their license.

Should mention the big MMO killer - the pay-to-win system. Anything that unbalances the in game economy is also counter-productive. The best bet would be to dig out the booster packs and pets. This is how F2P's are funded now; micro transactions rather than fee's. I don't really know whats a viable option and whats not, since this project is kind of uncharted territory. But indeed, it will be an issue for the Dev's later on.

I didn't read all the text above but there's very little that needs to be said about this topic.

Donating to the dev team independent of any game activities is awesome. Charging fees to play a game that we don't own could attract unwanted attention.

Yeah as soon as they start taking any sort of money from anyone GW and EA will shut this down so damn fast. Donations might be something that could possibly be looked into, but seriously this is up to the team working on the server, not us.
